One Critically Injured In Crash That Causes Road Closure In Fairfield County

One person suffered life-threatening injuries after crashing a 2020 Jeep Wrangler into a tree and a utility pole.

The crash, which closed the roadway for several hours, took place around 8 p.m., Sunday, March 6, in the area of 300 East Putnam Ave., in Greenwich.

When the crash occurred, the Jeep was traveling west when it left the roadway and struck a tree and utility pole on the north shoulder before rolling over onto the roof, said Capt. Mark Zuccerella, of the Greenwich Police.

The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment, Zuccerella said.

The Greenwich Police Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating the collision.
